A Saturday Silks specialty collection for the Houston Texans

We are proud to showcase the collection of silks we designed exclusively for the Houston Texans! 🏈❤️ In this collection we created a classic Saturday Scarf™️, our beloved twilly, and ventured out by designing an all new product for men: silk pocket squares! Though these are not available for individual sale, we are so excited to provide these as internal merchandise for the team and their network. Even more excited to have done this as a woman-owned Houston small business 💫

When we got started on this project mid-July of 2022, the original thought was to only to twillies. As our signature product, we knew that the women of the Texans would love the timeless yet fresh skinny silk scarf. It wasn't until we heard the news that they were interested in a Saturday Scarf, our trademarked term for a large 36x36 silk scarf, and even a mens pocket square that we realized how big this would be for our small and humble brand.

I was beyond eager to get to designing! I started by drawing several original football themed illustrations and scanned our previous designs for elements that I could merge onto the scarf. When designing a scarf and twilly combo, I always start with the scarf. It's the product with the most complex design and will dictate how the twilly looks, especially the backside print. After some back and forth, we settled on a design that was sparse in illustrations, but filled with Texans artwork and themes. The RCM (Robert C. McNair) memorial logo, "Champions for Youth," the NFL logo, and "We are Texans" are just some of the icons shown.

After the scarf design was determined, the twilly fell into place as it often does. The next challenge that came was the pocket square- and I was beyond stuck. Questions that crossed my laptop were of originality, masculinity, and foldability. There were a lot of aspects to keep in mind! Post designing a now embarrassing attempt at an organic print, I began laying out all the elements in a linear stripe pattern and all my questions were answered. The design was so perfect that it has inspired us to add the product to our collegiate line!

The process is something that is long, tedious, and often times what I look forward to the most. I'm grateful to work alongside both my mom and aunt who let my creativity lead many of our product endeavors, but are also not afraid to tell me when my judgement is off. We are immensely thankful to the Houston Texans for letting us work on this project!
