A Truly Texan Collaboration: Saturday Silks x Christina Greene for the 2023 Houston Rodeo

ย
Well this was hard to keep a secret! Meet our second annual Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo scarf designed exclusively forย Christina Greene Jewelry!ย We were thrilled when Christina reached out about collaborating on another custom Rodeo scarf ๐ค She had one request: turquoise of course! ๐
ย

This scarf turned into everything of the sort and I am absolutely obsessed. CG is known for their famous squash blossom necklaces, so it only made sense that it would end up large and in the corners (prime scarf real estate). In my initial sketches, I started with a day/night western silhouette, so that idea made itself to the side panels where youโll also see a mockingbird in flight. Then came all the Rodeo and Texas symbols: boots, hats, beltbuckles, bluebonnets, yellow roses, cacti, etc. Most of these are our signature illustrations that I first drew almost three years ago for the UT scarf- I always like to find new ways to give them life!
My favorite part that was added in was the circle of cattle brands, but you canโt have brands without initials to go off of. Youโll recognize some of them (HLSR, HTX, TEX), though I thought it was important to add a few more to signify our two businesses and the women behind them (SS, CG- Christina, OB- me, CHB- my mom, and MAM- Christinaโs daughter Marie who I know is a constant source of inspiration for her).
